Deep-Ocean Basins• Ocean basins are those

areas found under the sea.

• About 70% of the planet's surface is made up of ocean basins

• Ocean basins can be either active ocean basins or inactive ocean basins

Mid-Ocean Ridge• Mid-ocean ridge is formed when

materials rising from the mantle pushes up by the oceanic crust.

• After crust it will leave a great gap called “Central Rift Valley” or known as “Wound in the Earth’s Crust”.

The Hydrothermal Vent

The Hydrothermal Vent (Con’t)

• Hydrothermal vents are the result of seawater percolating down through fissures in the ocean crust in the vicinity of spreading centers

• The Scientists first discovered hydrothermal vents in 1977 while their exploring near the Galapagos Islands.

The Hydrothermal Vent (Con’t)

• Process: water flout into the gap during oceanic and the water got heated (400C) then it pushes up.

The Hydrothermal Vent (Con’t)

• A black smoker is a kind of hydrothermal vent that can be found on the ocean floor.

• It’s contained the rich of dissolved minerals such copper, iron, zinc, most notably of sulfides.

Conclusion• Deep-sea hot spring is the greatest

interesting for both geologist and biologist.• Rich of marine life around hydrothermal

vents. • That all the result, what the scientists

studying from the complex system of the sea.

• Maybe everything's on what they’ve been discovered help to supply the world population with the raw materials.
