Effects of global warming on earth

•Global warming- Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of earth’s atmosphere and oceans.

Cause of global warming-

• Global warming is caused by many things these causes are of two types-

Natural causes Man- made causes

Natural causes

• Natural causes are causes created by nature. Some natural causes are-

• Release of Methane gas from Artic Tundra and wetlands. Methane is a greenhouse gas.

A greenhouse gas is a gas that traps heat in atmosphere.

Another natural cause is that the earth goes through a cycle of climate change.

Man-made causes

• Burning of fossil fuels- Fossil fuels are fuels made of organic matter such as coal.

• Mining activity- When you dig up coal you dig up the methane as well

Effect of global warming-

• Sea level rise- Due to rise in temperature the glaciers melt and sea level rises.

• Extreme weather – number of cold days and nights have been decreased globally.

• Acidification- As carbon dioxide dissolved in sea water, carbonic acid is formed.

• Oxygen depletion- The amount of oxygen dissolved in the oceans may decline, with adverse consequences for ocean life.

Ways to stop global warming-

• Tree plantation- A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its life time.

• Car pool –Use of carpool reduce carbon dioxide.

• Recycling- Recycling can reduce global warming

• Turn of electronic devices- Turning off electronic devices when they are not in use saves thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide.
