instantly influence your brand
What are some of the leading causes of package failure we see in the industry?
7
8
Humidity, condensation, and moisture, all this cold, damp environments can cause up to a 50% loss in packaging strength.
9
Once your products leaves the production floor and enters the supply chain, you have no control over how the packages are handled.
10
Also, package can be functional but needs to be customized for its intended use.
There is no one box fits all.

• Protect brand image
• Stronger handle performance
• Potential paper reduction
24
Brand assurance on bottled beer box
Industry Challenge
• Package tear in warehouse and stores
• Refrigerated conditions
• Product damage
25
Smarter Packaging
• Preventing catastrophic handle failure in ambient and refrigerated conditions
• Enabled board weight reduction by reinforcing critical stress points
26
We offer several access hole reinforcement solutions Shown here is our
kraft Back tape which we developed for the Canadian beer market.

Sesame ® Dry End Tape
In addition to our traditional Sesame Tape technology we developed a dry end
application of our tape.
This Dry end application is easier to apply yet strong enough to support the weight
of contents.
Both of these technologies can be applied to reinforce access holes from beer to
Televisions, improving the stability of the package throughout the supply chain. We
have ben supporting beer industry with these tape technologies & protecting beer
consumers in North America, Europe, and Latin America over 35 years.

Containment – bulk packaging
Benefits
• Stronger, bulge resistant package
• Burst Protection
• Reduced product loss
• Paper reduction
• Cost reduction
©2014 H.B. Fuller Company
• This packaging is used for intermediate transfer box for
processed meat & poultry.
By reinforcing the critical stress points in the bin we are
able to make a stronger more efficient package.
Imagine 2000 kg of meat spilling out a ruptured bulk bin
in a warehouse. By adding our tapes we were able to
make the bin stronger and more bulge resistant,
increase the burst protection and reduce cost.

Containment – bulk packaging
H.B. Fuller Sesame® sustainability North America
Estimated:
• 15-30% of paper weight reduction
• 22,000 tons less paper per annum
• 380,000 fewer trees = 2.3 million new bulk boxes and saved
• 1.8 million gallons of oil
• 157 million gallons of water
• 92 million kw/hr of electricity
33
*The above estimate is based on H.B. Fuller internal data and calculated using the assumption of 12.8 ft per tape x 8 tapes per box +
12.5% waste/stock = 102.4 ft / box. 75% of total ST supply (1.8MM mft) reduced paper ave of 20% = 44.8MM lbs, 22.4 tons.
We designed a double wall bin with tape reinforcement to replace the
triple wall bins, thereby saving the industry between 15% and 30% in
paper fiber.
In 2013, 1.8 Billion ft, a half million KM of Sesame® Tape was
applied through 41 corrugated plants in North America, not just for
meat and poultry, but also on fresh, frozen, and dry foods, plastic
resin and chemical bins, and machinery parts bulk boxes.

Retail ready packaging & easy opening
Benefits
• Clean opening
• Reduce paper usage by > 30%
• Compared to 2 piece systems
• Single in-line process at line speed
• Clean opening with no BCT impact
40
This is very popular application in Europe and the trend is growing in North America and in Asia.
Stores in Europe and in the US do not allow employees to use knives in opening packages for display, Why, because they are not safe to use, they can cause lost time accidents to employees and can cut through the products inside.
The biggest benefit to using our opening system is that you do not have to sacrifice box strength by using perforations to gain a clean cut tray.
