Islam’s Symbol significance The flag was applied

as only one simple color with the Muslims leader (no symbol no writing).

By 1793 the symbol was on the flag. The Christian's had cross and the Jew’s had the star of David.

As the 19th century, it represented Ottoman Empire.

Arabian Peninsula MapThe peninsula

formed a result of the rifting of the Red Sea in between the 56 and 23 million years ago

The border by the Red Sea is to the west, the Persian Gulf on the northeast, not but least the Indian Ocean is to the Southeast

The ReligionIslam is a monotheistic

religion based about revelations given by the Prophet Muhammad by the 7th century

The Arabic word Islam means “Submission”

Islamic practices are known by Five Pillars of Islam : faith, prayer, fasting, pilgrimage and almas

Islam’s Spread Map

The spread of Islam began when, around 613 CE, the prophet Muhammad (570 – 632 CE) began to share the revelation which he believed God (Allah) had started to give to him three years previously.

Muslim conquests in the years following Muhammad's death led to the creation of caliphates, theocratic states where only believers in Islam and the other Abrahamic religions were permitted to maintain their faiths and conversion to Islam encouraged in various ways

Islamic BeliefsPeople will have to obey

Allah’s commands.Muslims learn these

commands from Muhammad.

Muhammad responded to all the people at the final day God will judge all people.

Those who obeyed his commands will be granted life at paradise.

The Five Pillars of IslamShahadah: declaring there is

no god only God, and Muhammad is god’s Messenger

Salat: ritual prayer five times a day

Sawm: fasting and self-control during the blessed month of Ramadan

Zakat : giving 2.5 percent of one’s saving to the poor and needy

Hajj piligrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime if he/she is able to do

Muslims EmpiresIn the few centuries after life

of Prophet Muhammad, Muslim armies poured out into all surrounding areas, bringing the lands from Persia to Spain under their control

Even after the decline of the Abbasid Caliphate, Islam would remain as one of the base institutions of the region. Future states of the region, such as the Safavid, Seljuk, and Ottoman and Mughal Empires, were all "Islamic Empires".

The Quran Muslims consider the Quran to be the only book that has been protected by God from distortion or corruption

Quranic chapters are called suras and verses are called ayahs.

Muslims believe that the Quran was verbally revealed from God to through the angel Gabriel

Fatimah died (633) was a daughter of prophet Muhammad and Khadijah, wife of Ali and mother of Hasan and Hussein, and one of the five members of Ahl al-Bayt.

She died a few months after her father's death, and was buried in Jannat Al-Baqi', but the exact location of her grave is unknown.

She became the object of great veneration by all Muslims, because she lived closest to her father and supported him in his difficulties, because of the historical importance of her husband and her two sons, and because she is the only member of Prophet Muhammad's family that gave him descendants, numerously spread through the Islamic world

The Kaaba Muslims have to face

the Kaaba during, no matter where they are.

From then any given point in the place, the direction facing to this Kaaba is called the Qibla.

Al-Masjid al-Haram, the most sacred mosque in Islam, is constructed surrounding the Kaaba.
