How to Make Butter Chicken in 5 Easy Steps

Butter Chicken is one of the most well known and loved Indian-Pakistani foods all over the

world. It consists of a thick gravy that can be made as hot or mild as you would like. Butter

Chicken tastes great with traditional Naan or Basmati Rice. Here’s a great simple recipe from

Biryani Kabab that you can use to create a restaurant worthy Butter Chicken every time.

What You Need

1 cup of butter

1 whole onion, minced

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

1 can of tomato sauce, 15 ounces

3 cups of heavy cream

2 tablespoons salt

1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon garam masala

1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 tablespoons tandoori masala

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 370 degrees F or 190 degrees C

2. Melt a few tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and

cook slowly until the onion caramelizes and turns brown which usually takes about 15

minute

3. While this happens, melt your remaining butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add tomato sauce, heavy cream, salt, cayenne pepper and garam masala. Bring this to a

simmer, and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes,

occasionally stirring. Add your caramelized onions and stir.

4. As the sauce simmers, add the chicken breast pieces with vegetable oil until it is coated.

After this has been done, season with tandoori masala and spread out onto a baking sheet.

5. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven until cooked, which should take about 12

minutes. Once this is done add the chicken to the sauce and simmer for a few minutes

until it is ready to be served
