About the Conference India is the 3rd largest producer of cast component with production of 9 million tons
per annum and the industry has a huge untapped demand which needs to be
captured in the coming years. With increasing importance of foundry in
manufacturing sector, the 10th International Exhibition on Foundry Technology,
Equipment and materials held simultaneously with Conference on India Foundry
Congress in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The conference witnessed a platform for Cast
India Expo, Cast Source Meet to Panel Discussions, Case Studies, Success Stories,
NRI Foundry Forum, CEO meet, BRICS Foundry Forum, Technical Presentations from
the Foundry Industry.The Exhibition witnessed a wide participation from foundrymen,
companies and academiafrom domestic as well as international level, who showcased
latest trends in foundry technology. The full programme of Three day conference is
enclosed at Annexure I.
The event had observed huge participation from more than 1300 delegations, 500
engineering students and more than 290 exhibitors across the world. Participation
from 14 countries namely USA, UK, Germany, France, Austria, Denmark, Brazil,
Russian Federation, Ukrane, Sweden, China, Pakistan, South Africa and Nigeria. The
details of the exhibition is provided in the annexture.
Inaugural Ceremony The 62nd Indian Foundry Congress was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri.
Saurabhbhai Patel; Hon’ble Minister, Energy and Petrochemicals, Government of
Gujarat along with various other eminent leaders, industrialists, academicians and
government officials.

Shri. Subodh Panchal welcomed all the dignataries and addressed the attendies that
the event is aimedto provide a focused platform for all the stakeholders of foundry
industry to discuss, share & network the latest technology in the foundry industry. It
was indicatedthat the event aims to explore new opportunitiesin the industry.
Smt. Reena Bhagwati indicated that foundry industry is growing faster than ever due
to recent growth in manufacturing sector and in next 10 years foundry industry needs
to grow atleast three times to satisfy domestic need. She said that such an
overwhelming participation in these turbulent times shows the bright future of the
foundry industry.
Hon’ble Minister Shri. Saurabhbhai Patel welcomed all the dignataries and
participants for attending the event and gave special adress about the industrial
openness in Gujarat and visions for Manufacturing as well as Foundry sector.
• Release of Handbook on Metal Terminology Hon’ble Minister released a handbook on Metal Terminology along with a USB
containing details of technical sessions and technical papers presented during the
foundry congresses, showing the support to green foundry technology. Industries
Commissioner, Shri. Kamal Dayani, IAS, released a CD on aluminium casting
prepared by the Centre of Excellence (CoE).
• Presentation of National Awards & List of Award Winners Awards were presented by key dignitaries present on stage to the best industries and
best foundrymen nominated under various catagories for their excellent performance.

Shri. Amish Panchal thakned the Chief Guest, all the dignataries, exhibitors,
delegates, participants across the world for making this such big success. He thanked
Government of Gujarat for their cooperation and extendig their support for this event.
He also thanked all the speakers for sharing their knowledge for the benefit of the
industry. He said that exhibitions, panel discussions and other technical sessions will
help to face the current lean situation in a bettet way.
Exhibition: The three day exhibition in spread in 16000 square meters and 5 different Halls of
Mahatma Mandir has more than 290 domestic and international participants. The list
of Participants is enclosed at Annexure II.
Government of Gujarat/iNDEXTb Stall: Government of Gujarat was allotted 100 square meters of space in the Exhibition area
to promote Gujarat as investor friendly destination, Steel and Engineering Sector of
Gujarat and Vibrant Gujarat Summit. A large number of industrialists visited
Government of Gujarat/iNDEXTb stall to discuss various aspects on infrastructure
facilities in Gujarat, investment opportunities in foundry as well as other sectors,
Governance and Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
Way Forward For the growth of foundry industry the following issues needs to be addressed
collectively by Government & private players
• First is value creation for IIF members and its stake holders. This can be achieved
by organising workshops and seminars on energy efficiency, cost management and
operational efficiency
• Setting up of development council which will work as a ‘think tank’ for policy
intervention tosupprt the manufacturing sector
• Foundry related courses should be introduced and internships should be provided in foundry sectors to encourage students to enter in the fourishing foundry industry
