Zimbabwe is a landlocked country located in southern Africa between the Zambezi and Limpopo Rivers. A fa-mous tourist destination in its own right, Zimbabwe boasts a number of internationally renowned tourist at-tractions and a favorable year round weather condition. It borders South Africa to the south, Botswana to the west, Zambia to the northwest, and Mozambique to the east. The capital and largest city is Harare.

Tourist attractions include the World Heritage site of the Great Zimbabwe Ruins situated close to Masvingo and the Mutirikwi Dam National Park, the mountains of Nyanga and Chimanimani in the Eastern Highlands and the historic Matopos National Park near Bulawayo and majestic Victo-ria Falls.

The city borrows its name from the first Shona inhabitants of the marshy flats near The Kopje (inselberg) on which it

stands today, who were themselves called Ne-Harawa after the regional chief - Harare (one who does not sleep).

The Victoria Falls are one of the biggest falls in Af-rica, where the Zambezi River plunges into a 106 meter deep gorge. The town and surrounding area have been declared a National Park mainly to pre-serve it from over-commercialization. To cater for the modern tourist white water rafting and canoe-ing are available, as well as bungee jumping from the bridge crossing the gorge.

Victoria Falls

Great Zimbabwe Ruins

Great Zimbabwe is a ruined city in the southeast-ern hills of Zimbabwe near Lake Mutirikwe and the city of Masvingo. It was the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe during the country’s Late Iron Age. Construction on the monument by ancestors of the Shona people began in the 11th century and continued until the 15th century. The ruins span an area of 722 hectares (1,780 acres) which, at its peak, could have housed up to 18,000 people. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Bridal Veil Falls forms an ideal picnic site within easy walking distance from the Chimanimani Village. The area is protected by National Parks of Zimbabwe and shows a small, well preserved area of evergreen vegetation, amidst a larger area of high-rain-fall Brachystegia woodland. The area does not fall within the quartzite zone of the Chimanimani Mountains and does not have any of the endemic species but it still yields a rich variety of interesting plants, such as Sium repandum, Crotalaria varie-gata, an unusual form of Eucomis autumnalis and a beautiful grove of the Wild Banana, Ensete ventricosum. You will certainly enjoy your stay in Zimbabwe.

Named after a local Nhanzwa chief, Hwange National Park is the largest Park in Zimbabwe occupying roughly 14 650 square kilometers. It is located in the northwest corner of the country about one hour south of the Mighty Victoria Falls. It became the royal hunting grounds to the Ndebele warrior-king Mzilikazi in the early 19th Century and was set aside as a National Park in 1929. Hwange boasts a tre-mendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded. The elephants of Hwange are world famous and the Park’s elephant population is one of the largest in the world. The Park has three distinctive Camps and administrative offices at Robins, Sinamatella and the largest one at Main Camp.

VISA REQUIREMENTS TO ZIMBABWETHERE ARE 3 CATEGORIES:

Category A: Countries whose nationals do NOT require a Visa. No action required, you will be granted easy entry at any border post.

Category B: Countries whose nationals are granted a Zimbabwe visa at port of entry on payment of requisite visa fees. These visas are easiest obtained on your ar-rival at the Airport or border post. If you get them done via an agency in your home country they will often cost you quite a bit more and be a lot more hassle. These countries are provided with a UNIVISA

Category C: Countries whose nationals are required to apply for and obtain a Zim-babwe visa prior to travelling. Unfortunately this is a bit of a pain, but you have to apply through an agency or the Zimbabwe High Commission in your home country. Zimbabwe immigration has launched a website where Category C’s can now apply online. Follow this link: https://www.evisa.gov.zw/

The UNIVISAThe UNIVISA - standard fee of US$50 – where credit card point of sale facilities are not available at port of entry it is recommended that clients have US$50 available for payment.Validity – the KAZA UNIVISA will be valid for 30 days as long as you remain in Zimbabwe and Zambia and clients can cross into Zimbabwe/Zambia as frequently as they like within the 30 day period. (If the UNIVISA is obtained at Victoria Falls and you cross over to Zimbabwe at Kariba or Chirundu or vice versa the visa shall be valid)It also covers those who visit Botswana for day trips through the Kazangula Borders – it will not be valid if staying in Botswana overnight, in this case you would need to purchase a new Visa. The UNIVISA cannot be extended however you can buy a new UNIVISA (up to 3 per year). You do NOT have to by a UniVisa you can purchase normal single and double entry visas if they suit you better - see Zimbabwe visa pageExample 1: US passport holder only coming to Zimbabwe, not going across to Zambia. Better to buy a single entry visa @ $30Example 2: US passport holder staying in Zimbabwe but going to Zambia for a day activity. Normal visa price $45 double entry visa to Zimbabwe + $20 Zambia day tripper visa = $65. Therefore cheaper to buy UniVisa at $50 covers all entries.Eligible Countries whose nationals are granted a UniVisa at port of entry on payment of US$ 50

Since its establishment in 1949, IPSF has grown to represent more than 313,000 pharmacy students from various countries worldwide. Competent and inspired lead-ership has been at the helm of its perma-nence and to ensure the continuity of the federation it was deemed pertinent to train its members to be the leaders the world needs. Tailor-made for all those who wish to nurture the leader within them (especial-ly for those who wish to take up leadership positions in IPSF) LIT has stood the test of time and has produced hundreds of capable leaders over the years. The four day-long event is educative, informative and it gives its participants a chance to interact with leaders from other countries on a social lev-el. Participants take part in team building as well as introspective activities under the qualified eye of LIT trainers from IPSF.

The annual LIT will be held on the 26th of July to the 29th of July 2016. This unique Program provides the participants with a unique framework for building leadership skills, to gain additional experience and evaluation in the areas of leadership and personal development, along with theo-retical and practical training. LIT will be hosted in the sunshine city Harare and its participants will work hard by day and relax in the city that never sleeps.
