Unnati took birth imparting vocational training to the underprivileged youth in 2003.
Mr. Ramesh Swamy, is the lead trustee of Unnati, Bangalore.
Empowering the youth was the key vision which
the group of trustees at Unnati unanimously saw.
One of the biggest challenges for South Asian countries
It is about linking skills more strongly to the economic aspirations of the country
UNESCO-UNEVOC – international centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) was established in 2000.
The young population is an asset only if it is educated, skilled and finds productive employment.
India has net enrollment of 3.5 million per year, as compared to 90 million in China and 11 million in
US in vocational education and training courses.
NRLM/Aajeevika, focuses on nurturing the capability of poor youth empowering them with capacities (information, knowledge, skills, tools, finance and collectivization)
Parvaaz on ‘Comprehensive Skills and Education Program for Rural BPL Minority Youth’, targets to mainstream the
minority below poverty line (BPL) youth
The network spreads pan India with 8 day-centers set up with partners in 4different states
Unnati has trained successfully and facilitated employment to 4000 plus youth and has grown into a sprawling area of 22,000 sq.
ft with a capacity to train 750 youth/ year
The curricula of the vocations are prepared by a competent team, with regular upgradation of content keeping up with industrial demands
Candidates are counseled at this stage for selection of suitable vocation from the variety of options
Unnati offers at different centers
Personalized interview, with the candidate and if possible parents are conducted.
Unnati promises every student with a job offer letter in hand, on the day of valediction.
Unnati follows the Udaan – Life Skills Program
partnering with “Youth Reach India”
Staffs with diverse background, all complement each other and provide the right mix to deliver the program.
Foundation takes complete responsibility of all expenses of a student related to study materials and training, and even bus passes.
The key ingredient to success of Unnati lies with the way it has been able to engage with its key stakeholders
They work towards with a mission to train one million youth in the country by 2020.
An indicative outlay of Rs.13,223 crore has been made by the Ministry of Labor and Employment for various schemes, as outlined in the Twelfth Plan
document

state of Karnataka
