ZODML

Zaccheus Onumba Dibiaezue Memorial Libraries is an NGO founded in 1999.

Our Vision is a Nigeria in which everyone has the ability to educate themselves.

Our mission is to provide free channels through which Nigerians can access information and learning tools to acquire knowledge.

In 2015 in addition to our many existing projects we: •donated over 45,000 books to various recipients in need; •started literacy programmes in government primary schools;•established 3 prison libraries;

In 2015 in addition to our many existing projects we: •started a Drop Everything And Read initiative in government secondary schools;•provided free Internet access in public libraries; and •established 5 in-school libraries in government primary schools.

Book Donations

With the help of partners and friends we succeeded in donating over 45,000 books to various recipients in need in all 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria. (photo - Arrow of God Orphanage and School)

Prison Libraries

Apart from adding 600 books to our library in Ikoyi Prison we also inthe course of the year augmented the collection of the library in Kirikiri Women’s Prison with a donation of 600 books. We also established 3 libraries, one each in Badagry, Kirikiri Maximum Security and Kirikiri Medium Security Prison. (photo - Kirikiri Women’s Prison)

Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R) Time

We established our first D.E.A.R Time Initiative this year. The project places a box with about 400 books in each class and the school allots a time everyday when the students pause in their studies to select a book to read. (photo - Wahab Folawiyo Senior High School, Osborne, Ikoyi Lagos State)

Literacy Programmes

To deepen the impact of our in-school libraries in Local Government Primary schools, we created and implemented a series of literacy programmes for nursery through to primary 6. (photo - St George School for Girls, Falomo, Ikoyi Lagos State)

Free Internet Access in Public Libraries

Our Well Spring Centre at Henry Carr Public Library in Agege is the first free Internet Access Centre that we intend to provide in public libraries run by either state or the Federal Government. The centre provides free access to the Internet to library users to help with their learning and research. (photo - Henry Carr Public Library, Agege)

In-School Libraries

One of the high points of 2015 for us was the successful commissioning of 5 in-school libraries one each at Akoka Primary School, Akoka, Kadara Primary School, Oyingbo, Christ Church Primary school, Ebute Metta, Okobaba Salvation Army Primary School, Okobaba and LMLG Primary School, Fadeyi. Other Activities469 government primary and secondary school students benefitted from 19 reading programme sessions during the year.6,950 government secondary school students were beneficiaries of our BookCorner project and had access to over 3,000 books.28 government primary and secondary school students went on our literary excursions to the Nigeria International Book Fair and the Lagos book and Art Festival.
