Since its inception, in 1895, chiropractic has grown to the point where it is now a large and well established healthcare profession in many countries around the world. As a result, chiropractors now make a major contribution to human health and well-being through the provi-sion of care that reduces, where possible the need to resort to the use of drugs and/or surgery.

A growing number of people prefer to take a natural approach to health. Chi-ropractors focus on the relationship between the body’s structure —mainly the spine— and it’s functioning. With the assistance of curriculum development experts, and with feedback from major stakeholders, the BCC has devel-oped its own unique curriculum that strives to marry the dis-cipline of chiropractic with advanced teaching, learning and assessment strategies.

A team of world-class teachers will deliver the 5-year long full-time curriculum. Throughout the programme of study students develop their clinical skills, first by observation and with time by providing care at the BCC Chiropractic Centre.

Science, Art and PhilosophyTraditionally, chiropractic was seen to be based on three pil-lars: Science, Art and Philosophy. The commitment to find a balance between these three pillars in developing the content of the curriculum is one aspect of what makes the training and education offered by the BCC unique.

Consistent with chiropractic principles and theory, the BCC team has developed a curriculum that combines the study of basic and clinical sciences with a deep reflection on the body’s innate ability to optimise its own health potential.

Bilingual collegeThe Barcelona College of Chiropractic is an international college that has two of-ficial languages – Spanish and English.

The college, with the assistance of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, offers lin-guistic support and language courses to ensure that students are proficient in both languages by the time they graduate.

Clinical experienceStudents receive intensive training in all as-pects of patient care during the first 3 years of the programme of study. Additionally, af-ter having passed a clinic entrance exam at the end of the third year, students spend much of the last 2 years of study providing care in the BCC Chiropractic Centre.
