Develops when calcium, fatty material, and scar tissue called “plaque” (plak) build up together in the arteries of the heart because of damage done to the arteries

enough blood because the buildup makes the artery hole smaller
Causes chest pain, called angina (an ji nuh), and shortness of breath
May lead to a heart attack and death—this disease kills the more people in the US than any other disease
