for peak performance. This, paired with HealthFitness’ tailored programming and clinical services, is helping to reduce workplace injuries and keep employees healthy and safe.

Learn how one manufacturer successfully ties fitness to safety at work

The ChallengeTrue with many manufacturing populations, employees at this company often deal with stress from standing for long periods, strain from heavy lifting and repetitive motion injuries.

In an effort to help employees prevent—and rehab—injuries, the company wanted a corporate fitness partner offering not only fitness services but clinical services as well.

The SolutionIn 2011, the company selected HealthFitness to manage its 10,000-square-foot fitness center. The process included corporate fitness program development and the hiring of a full-time physical therapist to meet clinical needs of the company’s population.

Being able to offer clinical services through a physical therapist, without using an additional vendor, was an integral part of the company’s decision to use HealthFitness as their new corporate fitness partner.

Additional programming includes the Industrial Athlete Program, which started as a pilot.

The Industrial Athlete Program engages employees in all areas of health management and wellness, including ergonomics, exercise, nutrition, movement improvement and stress management. The program uses Functional Movement Screenings (FMS) to show and predict injuries based on each individual’s patterns of movement.

During the pilot, the FMS was routinely done every eight weeks to help measure improvements and note areas needing additional work.Membership: The eligible population is 5,000. • 885 or 24 percent of the eligible population
