1. Sand Flies
• Found in sandy terrains• Sucks pets blood• Transmit pathogens that can cause serious disorder in pets
TREATMENT:Flea tick preventives or colloidal shampoo or lotion
2. Itch Mites
• Also known as sarcoptes scabiei• Infects dogs, cats, horses and humans too sometimes
TREATMENT:Medicines containing Moxidectin or Imidacloprid for dogs and containing Fipronil for cats
3. Fleas
• Most common parasites in pets• More possibility in Summer• Lives a complete lifecycle on pets
TREATMENT:Frontline Plus, Advantage II and similar flea controls
4. Ticks
• Suck the blood from dogs• Sometimes cause serious diseases in pets
TREATMENT:K9 Advantix if amount of ticks is high and tweezers if infestation is normal
5. Sarcoptic Mange
• Can spread on the whole animal body in very short time• A type of mange that causes red papules of the skin• Causes itch and scrathing in dogs and destroys infected area
TREATMENT:Amitraz shampoos, dips, Fipronil medicines and shampoo bath
6. Lice
• Less adapted to blood sucking but causes skin problems• Spreads from cats to cats and from dogs to dogs• Causes intense itching and scratching in pets
TREATMENT:Usual flea tick preventives and disinfectant sprays
7. Ear Mites
• Irritating mites that target pets’ ear canal only• Have 3 weeks lifecycle• Hard to notice with naked eyes
TREATMENT:Otic cleansers and certain flea tick medications
8. Mosquitoes
• Don’t live on host directly, feeds on them• Leaves dreadful warms in pets while sucking their blood
TREATMENT:Hard to eradicate from environment. Usual flea tick treatments can be used to repel mosquitoes in pets
