Why have an annual European Immunization Week?

Born out of a concern that immunization is becoming less valued, resulting in declining vaccination coverage and outbreaks

Regional Goal of EIW: To increase vaccination

coverage by drawing attention to and increasing awareness of the importance of immunization; special focus on vulnerable groups

EIW over the years Initiative grew from 6 pilot countries to 53

participating Member States in only 7 years• Now one of the Region’s most visible public

health events
