Design of the System

• The Eastern Regional Hospital has two main soft wares which aid in their management of the hospital, they are

• Hospital Administration and Management Software(H.A.M.S) and

• E-Archive• HAMS is used to monitor major activities of the

hospital and the E-Archive is used for folder retrieval both are compatible with each other and are in sync.

The Existing System

Design of the System

• Based on research and interview the existing system in use by the Eastern Regional Hospital has several problems. This problem can have effects on the patient.

• Lack of doctors and staff schedule• Largely used to print National Health Insurance

Scheme (NHIS) claims• Lack of prompt updating: Various changes to

information like patient details or immunization details of child are difficult to make as paper work is involved

The Existing System

Design of the SystemThe Proposed System

This system (HMS) provides online storage/updates and retrieval facility. This system promises very less or no paper work and also provides help to Doctor and operational staff. The proposed system will easily handle all the data and the work done by the existing systems. The proposed systems eliminate the drawbacks of the existing system to a great extent.

How it WorksOverview of the Software

Page 22: Final presentation

October 2012

• It is fast, efficient and reliable• Avoids data redundancy and inconsistency• Web-based• Number of personnel required is considerably less• Provides more security and integrity to data.

4. Major Strengths

Page 23: Final presentation

October 2012

• It does not support electronic cash drawers for the cashier side.• It does not support barcode readers for the pharmacy.• Barcode scanning and printing unsupported.
