To avoid contracting the disease

*One should keep the premises free from rodents. *Food - both cooked and raw - should be kept covered at all times to avoid rodent infestation and contamination by rat's urine. *Water stagnation and piling up of garbage should not be allowed. *Well water should be disinfected using bleaching powder or chlorine tablets. *Avoid minor cuts and lacerations on the feet, through which the parasite may be contracted. *Avoid having a dip in canals and ponds, for they may be contaminated with rat's urine. *Pets should also be vaccinated. *Also wear footwear regularly.

The bacteria gain entry into the body through breaks in the skin such as cuts, wounds, blisters and abrasions, or through the lining of the nose, throat or alimentary tract, when they come into contact with water contaminated by the organism.Contamination happens from the urine of the rats.

Though other beverages like tea and soft drinks contain caffeine, coffee has the highest amount of caffeine. Usually a cup of coffee contains 100 to 150 mg of caffeine.

Tea and soft drinks usually contain about 50 mg per cup or glass of approximately 200 ml.

The caffeine in coffee acts as a stimulant, and the effect on the brain is maximum 30 to 60 minutes after drinking it.

When the daily intake of caffeine exceeds 350 mg , the person may suffer from caffeine dependence.

If the caffeine intake is stopped for a day, it usually results in a splitting headache.

Symptoms of a higher level of caffeine addiction are leg pains, sweating, runny nose, yawning.Too much of coffee removes calcium from bones and lead to its depletion.

Myth: Brushing your teeth for a long interval will help them stay clean.

Truth:Brushing is essential for keeping our teeth clean, but too aggressive brushing can cause damage to the enamel coat, actually making it wear off. Lengthy brushing also causes receding gums. Doctors say brush for a maximum of two minutes using circular motions.

Myth: If You’re pregnant, you’re eating for two.

Truth:Quality matters more than quantity. Eat plenty of quality foods, loaded with nutrients, and you’ll shower your growing baby with all the right ingredients. Try to eat 150 extra calories a day during the first trimester (the first three months) and around 300 extra calories a day during the second and third trimesters (the last six months).

Healthy way of eating Pizza1. Avoid having colas and alcoholic beverages with your pizza. They add to the caloric intake.

2.The best option is to have a glass of fresh lemonade water that enables the digestion of protein.

3. Avoid cheese-filled pizza bases -- they are rich in calories and add to the saturated fat content of the diet.

4. Avoid pizzas with different meat combinations. Stick to only one kind of meat option.

5. A thin and crisp pizza topped with vegetables is a good choice.

6. Avoid French fries as a side order. Choose a low calorie salad, maybe a tossed salad.

7. When you have pizza during the day or as an evening snack, go very light on dinner.

People with a hole in the heart are born with it, which is called a congenital condition. Whilst the baby is forming in the womb, the chambers of the heart develop. In people with a hole in the heart, the wall between the chambers might not form properly, leaving a hole.

Your heart has two sides, separated by an inner wall called the septum. With each heartbeat, the right side of the heart receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs. The left side of the heart receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pumps it to the body. The septum prevents mixing of blood between the two sides of the heart.

A hole in the septum can allow blood to pass from the left side of the heart to the right side. This means that oxygen-rich blood can mix with oxygen-poor blood, causing the oxygen-rich blood to be pumped to the lungs a second time. So the heart has to strain more in pumping more blood.Normal heart Heart with hole

Blood pressure is recorded as two numbers—the systolic pressure (as the heart beats) over the diastolic pressure (as the heart relaxes between beats). The measurement is written one above with the systolic number on top and the diastolic number on the bottom

BLOOD PRESSURE LEVEL(mm of mercury)Category Systolic DiastolicNormal >120 > 80Prehypertension 120-139 80-89High Blood pressureStage 1 Hypertension 140-159 90-99Stage 2 Hypertension >160 >100

Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of arteries.

When systolic and diastolic blood pressures fall into different categories, the higher category should be used to classify blood pressure level. For example, 160/80 mm Hg would be stage 2 hypertension (high blood pressure).

A 24" x 24" square metal plate needs to be fixed by a carpenter on to a wooden board. The carpenter uses nails all along the edges of the square such that there are 25 nails on each side of the square. Each nail is at the same distance from the neighboring nails. How many nails does the carpenter use?

The four corners of the square have one nail each.

Each side of the square now requires 23 nails (excluding the four corners).

Thus, total number of nails used = 4 + (4 × 23) = 96.
