SituationSituation

The Company TRIR had risen to between a 10 - 12 over the years.

EMR/EMF was up to a 1.10

Lots of employees and subcontractors were getting Hurt on each outage.

Customers were Turning Down Bids Based on poor Safety Record.

Self-Insured and Lots of $$$$ being spent on Workers’ Compensation

Claims.

Develop the Understanding throughout the organization that the mind-set - WAS THE PROBLEM!

Develop & Nurture the Process used to Prepare the Organization for Incident & Injury Free (I & IF) .

Clarify to Management and then Develop the Critical Success Factors needed prior to the Start of the I & IF Process.

Develop and Implement the three levels of training required.

Safety really isn’t about Programs , Procedures or

Numbers – It’s About People!

The Programs and Procedures and metrics need to be in place.

The Focus needs to Remain on the People!

TRIR = 10 in 2003, Currently YTD is 1.75.

Customers - Greater Ability to Bid & Confidence Level of our Customers to Perform & Manage Subcontractors.

Employee – Morale is High, Employees taking care of Safety, Quality and Production without Coercive Tactics.

Safety Organization - Proud to be reaching new levels of Incident & Injury Free performance across the Company.

Personal – Very Satisfied with Job and Supportive Work Environment.

•Top level of Management must be Fully Committed to the Process•Requires a Personal Commitment from the CEO/President •Resources

• Actions, • Time, • Money

•Informal & Formal Employee Leaders must be Recruited and buy-in to the Need

The Organization must be ready to receive the Message

The message is developed & delivered by conducting a Perception Survey with: Management Team Members Customers Employees

The Results are Consolidated and Shared with all Stakeholders.

Training Seminars are then Implemented for the various levels of stakeholders.

Top Level Management must be Coached in their Role and the Need to be Visibly Present and Supportive at all Times in the Process.

Mid-Level Crew Leaders must Buy-in, and be given new Tools to help Communicate and implement the new Focus & Changes.

Each Employees must receive Training on their Individual Roles and Responsibilities.
