We are delighted to announce the 1st Joint Meeting of JIVD andERCAwhichwill take place in Barcelona from the 15th to the 17th ofMarch 2012.

Both Associations are well known to health care professionals –JIVD in the field of home mechanical ventilation since 1989 andERCA in the field of respiratory care since 2003. The commonobjectives of both associations are to promote the knowledge andunderstanding of disease, to educate and to share experience inorder to ensure optimal patient respiratory care.

We aim to work closer together to enhance our respectiveknowledge and optimize our resources. With the help of aninternational advisory board, each association has drawn up itsown scientific program reflecting their respective specificity, aswell as organizing some joint sessions.

We look forward to combining our efforts and experience to offera convivial meeting which will be of great scientific interest to allthose involved in home mechanical ventilation and respiratorycare – physicians, paramedical staff, technicians, home careproviders, patients, psychologists, administrative staff …

We hope many of you will join us for this unique exchange andlearning experience in the fun city of Barcelona!

� TRANSPORTBY PLANE:El Prat airport is 16km from the city centre (30 min approx.).Please note that Easyjet and Ryanair operate regular flights toBarcelona from numerous European cities.A regular shuttle bus Aeorobús (A1 andA2) runs every 10 minutes,from 6:00 am to 1:00 am, from the airport to the city centre via thePlaça d’Espanya which is very close to the congress centre (seemap). BY TRAIN:The main Spanish and foreign station is Estació de Sants, inparticular this is where trains from Montpellier arrive. The station isclose to the congress centre: 2 subways stations on the green linen° 3 (see map).High speed trains connect Barcelona to Madrid (2:38h) andSaragossa (1:29h).

BY ROAD:Barcelona is only 640 km from Bordeaux or Lyon.The French motorway network connects with the AP-7, N-11 andC32 Barcelona motorway. The city centre can be accessed either byring-roads (“rondas”) or by the Avenue Meridiana to the centre.For the rest of Spain, enter the city on the AP-2 motorway, and thentake the Avenue Diagonal.A paying car park is available opposite the congress centre.

� PUBLIC TRANSPORTThe TMB network is very dense: bus, tram, and subway.The subway is very easy to use and has 8 lines; these are identifiedby specific colours and numbers. Open from 5 a.m. to midnight (2a.m. on Fridays and 5 a.m. on Saturdays).The congress centre is located in Montjuïc, between the foot ofthe Montjuïc hill and the Plaça d’Espanya, just a few minutes fromthe Espanya train stationon green line n° 13 whichalso passes through touristcentres, and on red line n° 1(see map).
