We have recently collaborated with another non profit called Kranti, they work with children of sex workers and for their rights. The workshop that we have designed is on Social Justice and Rights for our older girls between 12 to 14 years of age. Presently our 14 girls along with 6 girls from Kranti are attending the workshop every Sunday since 29 .01.2012. This workshop is for a year.

    The workshop includes modules like

Child rights Gender n sexuality Women rights Class Caste Religion Health Care n hygiene Prison n justice system in India Migration n immigration Nationalism Education

  • Mental health Ability Animal welfare Capitalism Tools: films, puppets, stories. After the class children will be given a topic for making presentation. They will be presenting it in the following week.

    b. Workshop on Comics For Rights :

Grassroot comics are created by and for You and Me and as a medium stand out distinctly from mainstream comics. This is a powerful medium of self expression. With ease one can communicate about different situations. This is one of the most popular communication tools for several organizations and peoples movement.

The approach is very simple and cost effective, only paper, pencil and pen is needed and your lines tell stories about issues chosen. The objective of this Comics Workshop was to make children understand their rights and to use comics as a tool to create advocacy regarding issues in the communities.

Project Crayons in collaboration with World Comics conducted a Comics Workshop to make children understand their rights and to use comics as a tool to create advocacy regarding issues in the communities as a part of Children's Day celebrations.

30 children in the age group of 8 14 years from Udaan Ghar and Community Development Centre, Mankhurd participated. This workshop was for 4 days from 11th of November to 14th of November. 4 days were filled with fun and excitement. Children were very enthusiastic about the entire process and fondly participated. They were very innovative with their approach. Each child wrote a story on the issue of their choice. They were taught to develop scripts. Then those scripts were translated into comics posters. Posters were telling their stories. They went with their comics on streets and were overwhelmed to receive good comments from people. Individually each of them presented the comics poster and expressed their learning and stories of self discovery. The comics workshop was facilitated by Rajeshwari and Chaitanya from World Comics India.
