• 31.6 % of the HHs not aware of Government Schemes • Challenge is compounded due to lack of utilization
• 61.78 % of the HHs do not treat water & *626 million do not have toilets
• 12.94 % of the HHs did not visit a healthcare facility when someone took ill in their family

• 14.4 % of the individuals go to a chemist when they fall ill
• Only 1.2 % used ambulance for taking ill to the
healthcare facility
• 81.13 % of HHs (Annual Income < Rs. 1 L) took a loan for expenditure on medicines
• 80.80 % of the HHs have a mobile phone

deaths, and accounts for 1 % of the Total Global Healthcare spending. The Indian Government has to
reorient its role as a Payer, Provider & Regulator and bring a fresh approach to addressing healthcare
challenges, keeping in mind the wherewithal of the private sector and the interest of the patients”
