What is NHS Citizen?

It is here to give everyone in England a voice on how the NHS works and enable the public to influence NHS decision making.

Why NHS Citizen?The NHS makes decisions about health services that affect us all. It belongs to everybody, but while there are many opportunities to be involved as a patient, in the past there have been few opportunities to be involved as a citizen.

NHS Citizen will build a bridge

of open discussion between citizens and senior NHS England leaders

to shape a better healthcare system for the future.

How it works?Issues are raised via an online forum called Gather – gather.nhscitizen.org.uk

Solutions are proposed and the top issues from Gather are debated by the NHS England board of directors and selected members of the general public at key NHS Assembly events twice a year.
