Who Can See your Google Drive Files

Introduction

Wondering who all have access to your Google files and folders. The File Permissionsprogram scans all the files and folders of your Google Drive and prepares a comprehensivereport detailing who has access to your Drive files and what kind of permissions they have.The report is available inside a Google Spreadsheet.

Your Google Drive report will include the following details about all your files:

1. Who can view a file (with their names and email addresses, if available)2. Who can edit a file (with their names and email addresses, if available)3. Which files are public (that anyone can view or edit)4. Which files are unlisted (that anyone with a link can view or edit)5. Which files are shared with users inside your Google Apps Domain6. When was a file last modified and created7. The parent folder (to help you locate the file in the Google drive)

Step 1: Copy the Document

Click the Make a Copy button to copy the File Permissions program into your Google Drive.



Step 2: Authorize the Program

Choose the File Permissions menu and select the Authorize menu.



Click continue



Accept

Authorize the program to access your Google Drive. It needs these permissions to read thesharing details of your files and folders. It needs send Mail permissions since the programwill send you an email notification once the report is prepared.

The script runs in your own Google Drive and not a single byte of your data is shared oruploaded anywhere.

The script is now authorized.



Step 3: Configure Report

Go the menu again and choose Configure.



Enter Email and Timezone

Enter your email address where you'll receive the File Permissions report. You also need toselect your time zone as the file's creation date and modification date will be listed in thistime zone.



Save and Run

Click the Save Configuration button and it will initiate the program. You can now close thesheet.



Google Drive Report

The program will send you an email once all the Drive files and folders have been analyzed.Here's a screenshot of how the final report will appear. You can use Filters in GoogleSpreadsheets to filter the report based on the file types, the access detail or the parentfolder.
