A Problem of Industrial Scale The cost of abandoned homes is enormous and growing in post- industrial cities such as Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit. Detroit alone has over 80,000 abandoned homes which require demolition and the total number is growing faster than the cities ability to demolish them. Traditional demolition is slow, inefficient and does not scale plus 100% of waste is dumped in a land fill. This process does not incorporate remediation and often turns these sites into informal dumps or micro brown fields. Without significant innovation, this problem will continue to diminish property values, inflate the cost structure of cities and block future urban renewal efforts. 1

A Problem of Industrial Scale

The cost of abandoned homes is enormous and growing in post-industrial cities such as Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit.

Green Vision

Our goal is to use state of the art technology developed in Michigan to recycle abandoned houses on an industrialized basis.

At production scale, an Advanced Material Recovery Facility (AMRF) can recycle up to 95% of an abandoned home to significantly reduce the cost of demolition.

Our objective is to re-invent this process with our host community to become the lowest cost provider of green remediation services.

Structured as a 501(c)3, this social enterprise can create significant economic and employment opportunities while preparing land for reuse.

With the success of this projectwill create a significant proof of concept and become the model for all post-industrial cities in the Great Lakes Region.

Significant Opportunity

The total market size of the demolition opportunity in Detroit alone exceeds $350,000,000.

This market size does not include basic site remediation including the removal of municipal and utility infrastructure (e.g., water and sewer, curb cut restoration, street and sidewalk removal, basement back fill, etc.), the value of which is significant.

The elimination of abandoned homes creates new green infrastructure, reduces municipal operating costs and adds significant value to remaining neighborhoods.

The end result is shovel ready land which is available commercial, mixed or agricultural use.

This project will generate significant economic activity and jobs in the host community.
