Type of documentary & Themes
- This is a mixed documentary which looks back on the life of the Marshall Amplifier.
- A theme of this documentary would be Rock Music
- Another theme would be amplifier history.
- This document includes all the 6 elements of mixed documentaries.
Narrative structure and Camera work
- The documentary is non linear which means it does not follow a specific time scale but does include achieve footage.
- It is single stranded as it focuses on the Marshall amplifier history.
- Rule of thirds applies during interviews which is very conventional.
- Camera is hand held for most scenes which is conventional
- Camera tilts when watching guitarist play a solo.- Zooms on still
images to pick out specific people.
- Panning shot used when looking through achieve photos.
Mise en scene
- Conventional interviews with relevant props in the background, these include guitars and sound stations.
- Working environment during interview as the background shows working to create the Marshall amps.
- Lots of observational footage of bands playing live.
- Clothing of bands suggest that they are in a rock band, this is relevant to the theme.
Sound and Editing
- Diegetic sound of guitars throughout documentary.
- Diegetic sound during interviews.
- Questions edited out which is conventional.
- Non diegetic guitar rifts changing per interviewee
- Fade transitions used.

- Footage of bands playing gigs in the past.

- Graphics while showing achieve images, the background is a file which represents the history of marshall amps.
