National Cancer Survivor’s Day• This year will be
the 27th Annual National Cancer Survivor’s Day.
• It is a celebration of those who have survived cancer and continue to inspire others.
• National Cancer Survivor’s Day is always observed on the first Sunday in June.
World Environment Day• On every fifth of
June, we celebrate World Environment Day.
• It is a principle day in which the world is encouraged to spread awareness and action in helping the environment.
• People are also encouraged to do something positive for the environment.
Flag Day and the Army Birthday• Flag Day helps
celebrate the adoption of the American flag, which happened on June 14, 1777.
• Also on June 14, we celebrate the United States Army birthday, which was founded on June 14, 1775.
World Blood Donor Day• Another
commemorative event on June 14th is World Blood Donor Day, which was first established in 2004.
• World Blood Donor Day is one of the eight official global public health campaigns created by the World Health Organization.
• During World Blood Donor Day, you are encouraged to raise the awareness of the need of safe blood and blood products, and to thank those who have donated blood.
Power of a Smile Day• Normally
observed on June 15th, Power of a Smile Day , it is not known what the origin of the day is.
• You are encouraged to share the power of a smile, which research has shown that is can increase attractiveness and likeability between humans.
Father’s Day• Father’s Day is
normally observed on the third Sunday in June.
• It is a day dedicated to celebrate fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of father’s in our society.
• Father’s Day was created to complement Mother’s Day, which is observed in May.
National HIV Testing Day• National HIV
Testing Day is normally observed on June 27th of every calendar year.
• It is an annual campaign for people of all ages to “Take the Test, Take Control.”
• There are over one million people that are living with HIV, and many don’t know that they are even infected.
• This day was created to help spread the awareness of the importance of getting tested.
