CODYCODY 2009 began with much despair for us at SSCR. We rescued little Cody from a high 2009 began with much despair for us at SSCR. We rescued little Cody from a high

Our wonderful vets tried everything they could think of to save Cody, but after us. Our wonderful vets tried everything they could think of to save Cody, but after only 10 days in our care, he passed away from a horrible disease called Auto only 10 days in our care, he passed away from a horrible disease called Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia. We think he had a catastrophic allergic reaction to the Immune Hemolytic Anemia. We think he had a catastrophic allergic reaction to the parvo-distemper vaccination he was given at the pound in WV. DEXTERDEXTER Our greatest sorrow of 2009 came on Saturday, February 21 when we lost one of Our greatest sorrow of 2009 came on Saturday, February 21 when we lost one of

the most gentle dogs we have ever had the privilege to know here at our rescue. the most gentle dogs we have ever had the privilege to know here at our rescue. Dexter came from GA and tested positive for a tick bourne disease called Ehrlichia. Dexter came from GA and tested positive for a tick bourne disease called Ehrlichia. He was doing so well with his treatments at first, but after a month in our care, he He was doing so well with his treatments at first, but after a month in our care, he suddenly developed severe neurological symptoms and lost the motor skills in all suddenly developed severe neurological symptoms and lost the motor skills in all four of his legs. With incredibly heavy hearts, we elected humane euthanization for four of his legs. With incredibly heavy hearts, we elected humane euthanization for Dexter when it became apparent that he was in great pain. Up to this point, there have only ever been two rescue dogs that have come to us that we have not been have only ever been two rescue dogs that have come to us that we have not been able to help, and it is so ironic that our beloved Dexter would have been one of able to help, and it is so ironic that our beloved Dexter would have been one of those. ELLIOTTELLIOTT This lovely young doodle boy was running stray in cold winter weather in This lovely young doodle boy was running stray in cold winter weather in

northwestern PA and was picked up by a good Samaritan. After a time, we were northwestern PA and was picked up by a good Samaritan. GRANT ~ aka SAMMYGRANT ~ aka SAMMY Grant arrived to the pound in GA with his pretty little sister. When she left for Grant arrived to the pound in GA with his pretty little sister. When she left for

adoption, he became depressed and was not “showing” well to visitors, so we were adoption, he became depressed and was not “showing” well to visitors, so we were lucky enough to save him and bring him to PA. As it turns out, a local family only lucky enough to save him and bring him to PA. As it turns out, a local family only five minutes from us had recently lost their little rescue dog Daisy to AIHA, the five minutes from us had recently lost their little rescue dog Daisy to AIHA, the same awful disease that claimed our Cody’s life, and they had room in their hearts same awful disease that claimed our Cody’s life, and they had room in their hearts and home for a new rescue dog…so now he is known as “Sammy”. hindsight. No one on this planet could ever find a dog that is happier and more well hindsight. Situations like that can be discouraging and we found her perfect match. There was some kind of inexplicable magic in the soul of this our Princess Jasmine. There was some kind of inexplicable magic in the soul of this dog, and we know in our hearts that she is now living with the family that she was dog, and we know in our hearts that she is now living with the family that she was meant to be with from the day she was born. KALEB ~ aka KOBEKALEB ~ aka KOBE Kaleb was the first and only dog we ever rescued from AL, but what a treasure he Kaleb was the first and only dog we ever rescued from AL, but what a treasure he

He was so wonderful with each and every dog that he met here at our Kaleb. MASONMASON Mason was a very happy young shepherd whippet mix who found a forever home Mason was a very happy young shepherd whippet mix who found a forever home

with a young family that lives only a mile or two from our rescue. He is happily with a young family that lives only a mile or two from our rescue. QUINCY ~ aka HENRYQUINCY ~ aka HENRY Quincy.. Well, what can we say except that this dog was a little doll and a million Quincy.. Well, what can we say except that this dog was a little doll and a million

people and their brother wanted to adopt him. As it turns out, the very first lady people and their brother wanted to adopt him. As it turns out, the very first lady who emailed us was the lucky adopter, and now this beautiful wheaten mix is living who emailed us was the lucky adopter, and now this beautiful wheaten mix is living the high life with Ann and her family. There were some bumps along the way the high life with Ann and her family. There were some bumps along the way during Quincy’s trial period too, but his family was patient, and all is well. TEA ROSE ~ aka ROSIETEA ROSE ~ aka ROSIE Tea Rose was a beautiful girl that found a great forever family through SSCR. She Tea Rose was a beautiful girl that found a great forever family through SSCR. She

and her housemate had been abandoned at their previous house in GA and then and her housemate had been abandoned at their previous house in GA and then picked up by local animal control when the neighbors realized the dogs were living picked up by local animal control when the neighbors realized the dogs were living in the house alone. As a result, Rose had a special need to be close to people. in the house alone. As a result, Rose had a special need to be close to people. Luckily, we found a family over in NJ that was able to be home with her quite a lot, Luckily, we found a family over in NJ that was able to be home with her quite a lot, and she has adjusted very well so far. This dog had the most unusually gorgeous and she has adjusted very well so far. This dog had the most unusually gorgeous brindled coat… and her nature was so very gentle. It is so true that one man’s trash brindled coat… and her nature was so very gentle. It is so true that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. VIOLET ~ aka DAISYVIOLET ~ aka DAISY Violet actually came to our rescue in 2008 but did not find her adoptive home till Violet actually came to our rescue in 2008 but did not find her adoptive home till

Several months came and went, and finally a lovely adult couple from MD again. Several months came and went, and finally a lovely adult couple from MD spotted Violet and inquired. Their road with her has had some bumps, but her spotted Violet and inquired. Their road with her has had some bumps, but her adopters have given their all to help her adjust to life at their home.. We hope 2010 adopters have given their all to help her adjust to life at their home..
