Get There Early• Register in advance • Arrive at least 15 minutes early. • Meet with your teacher, let them know of any injuries or
conditions that may require modifications • Tell your instructor that you are a beginner. • Find out if any props will be used during the session, • Find a spot in the middle or the back so that you can see the

Plan and Pack Ahead• Call ahead to find out what amenities the facility offers• Find out if there are showers, lockers, soap, shampoo, mats,
etc. • Make sure to pack water, a towel, appropriate clothing, a lock,
a change of clothes and a mat (if necessary). • You will not need sneakers.

Wardrobe Tips• Wear clothing that is both comfortable and practical. • You don’t want to feel constricted, but you also don’t want to
have to adjust your outfit every time you change positions. • I recommend form fitting stretchy fabrics • Bring layers for the warm up and cool down. • Don’t forget to bring clean clothes to change into once you
leave the studio.

Breathe• Focusing on your breath helps to establish a mind body
connection, maintain proper form and get rid of any anxieties.• A good yoga instructor will always be mindful of breathing and
constantly bring the focus back to your inhales and exhales.• If you ever need to take a break from your practice, go into an
appropriate position and focus on your breath.

Be Kind and Take Your Time
• Don’t compete with others.• Focus on proper form - don’t stretch yourself to breaking
point.• Ease into your practice.• Don’t burn out early.• Listen to your body.• Do what feels good.• Pace yourself. • Yoga is a practice, there is not “perfect”

Come Back!
• Try different practices and different teachers, but be consistent.
• Once you find a class that you like, make sure that you return.• The first class is new and unfamiliar, with continued practice
you will relax into it.
