Once upon a time, when brands were very young, everybody in the marketplace used to shout. “Buy my goods!” they would yell, “Try my wares!”

Some merchants didn’t even ask people if they were sitting comfortably before they began. They just thought shouting loudest would make them king of the marketplace.

Others would even huff and puff to try and blow their rivals away.

If only they’d taken the time to listen to people first, but these were the olden days, when in-depth data analytics and consumer dialogue were even rarer than Unicorns.

However, things were about to change.

People found all sorts of new ways of gathering information. They didn’t have to listen to market traders shouting any more.

And whenever they heard something interesting, people would share it with friends.

All over the land they started new conversations, often beginning with the words “Guess what the Google oracle told me?”

Thanks to little Mark Zuckerberg from far across the sea, people also made hundreds and thousands of new friends, and it didn’t cost them a groat.

It was amazing. In the olden days, the only thing that had gone viral was bubonic plague.

This was bad news for all those shouty merchants who never listened to other people and only ever held mirrors up to themselves.

They didn’t know how to make new friends and start interesting conversations. “How the Shrek do we do that?” some would say.

So things were looking Grimm for those merchants. Business was no longer a fairy tale. The party was over. Things were turning back into pumpkins.

What they desperately needed was someone to show them the wood from the trees and the Vines from the weeds, someone to help them get LinkedIn to new ways of engaging the people.

Otherwise, they’d never know which Path to take.

What they needed was a guide to take them through this new world, and that’s exactly what some of them found, because close to the forest is a magical place – many call it a Remarkable place.

And so, the merchants were happy again.

All they had needed was someone to show them how to tell their brand’s story a better way, because the land is no longer ruled by those who shout loudest, but by those who know content is not just king, it’s the whole Kingdom.
