How Journalists Use Twitter
by Emma Brown
Precise, a business information group, held a debate to discuss the ways in which Twitter is
transforming journalists’ working lives…
Here are the key takeaways, reflected in Tweets from the participants and observers of
the debate.
1. Twitter as a Personal News Service
Twitter has, for some journalists, taken the place of a newswire service.
2. Speed is of the Essence
More than ever before, speed is of the essence – Twitter helps journalists keep ahead of the newswires.
3. Online Profile
As the media landscape evolves, it’s important that journalists – as spokespeople for their publications – have an online profile.
4. Twitter… it’s not everything
Although it’s a useful tool for researching stories, not all journalists see its benefit…
5. Tweet Relevance
Just because it’s Tweeted, doesn’t mean it is relevant, representative or even true!
What does all this mean for PRs?
Twitter in Context
