Stantec Earns Top Awards at Annual Charity Design, Runway Competition High-Speed Event Taps Local Designers to Create Fashion in a Reality Show-Style Setting Sacramento, CA (July 14, 2015) NYSE, TSX:STN Designers from Stantec’s downtown Sacramento office recently combined speed, creativity, and “model” design strategies to earn top awards at the 5th Annual Sacramento MERGE 2015. A reality show style fashion event where “Project Runway meets Design Star,” MERGE is hosted by the International Interior Designer Association’s Northern California Chapter (IIDANC) and the Sacramento City Council. Earning “Best in Show” and “Crowd Favorite,” Stantec’s designers competed with 12 local firms to create an outfit inspired by the theme “A Night of Fairytales.” Using nothing but interior design materials, competitors are given three hours to design an outfit and dress a model for judging by a local industry panel. Stephanie Jackson, a senior associate interior designer with Stantec and Stantec’s MERGE team captain, said, “We were completely ecstatic to participate, let alone win; as competitions like this allow our team to demonstrate its creativity in a different but equally rewarding way in comparison to our traditional design projects.” Drawing inspiration from the MERGE 2015 IIDA fairytale theme, Stantec’s designers created an Alice in Wonderland gown using wire, room dividers, fabric, wood laminate flooring and carpeting. Company Interior Design Coordinator Rebecca Keehner served as the team runway model. About the MERGE Event MERGE challenges interior designers, students, graphic designers, and more to exercise their creativity. Participants were given 3.5 hours to create “runway-ready” looks using 4 to 5 assigned sets of interior design industry materials. Each team’s completed look was displayed on the runway and judged by a panel comprised of members representing the design, art, and fashion industries. Proceeds from the event benefit the 15th annual Student Design Awards – an event that recognizes and awards three interior design students from the Greater Sacramento area. At three separate campus ceremonies, the firm’s local engineers presented its Engineering Excellence in Education Award, alongside an engineering computer workstation for each educator and their students. The awards also recognize the educators for their focus on continuing STEM education and special training to prepare their classes for the Anaheim Ducks’ 15th Annual First Flight Field Trip Design a Puck Challenge - an event Stantec supported to inspire future leaders to choose careers in engineering. Local Honorees Include:

• Hannah Yoon - Merton E. Hill Elementary School (Garden Grove) • Laura Camastro – Turtle Rock Elementary School (Irvine) • Kim Brooks – Canyon Vista Elementary School (Aliso Viejo)

Dean Palumbo, Stantec’s Senior Vice President – US West, said, “It’s important that Stantec contributes to our community in a substantial way. As we see a shortage of high school and college students taking an interest in engineering careers, we appreciate educators like these who invest time into fostering inspiration among our future generations.” For the event, 16,000 students from all over Southern California participated in interactive and inspirational STEM-related activities at the Honda Center. As an event partner, Stantec was onsite educating students how to “think like an engineer” through hands-on exercises. Attending students also had the opportunity to participate in the Design a Puck challenge where they competed to create manufactured pucks for the Ducks using 3-D design software similar to that used by professional engineers. Pucks produced by students from Camastro, Brooks, and Yoon were the top three performers.
