Based on Mobomarket Indonesian user dataMoboMarket is an Android app store developed by Baidu,introduced in Indonesia in February 2014.

It is an app store in Indonesia to locally serve App user and support App developers.

The purpose for this research:1.To unveil some insights on the current situation and the trend of the mobile market in Indonesia.

2.To provide a picture of the mobile users behavior.

Data statistic report updated as Mar 2015 ( 4.91 million samples).

Main conclusions Looking at user’s device models, Samsung’s market dominations starting to weakening, with the biggest

competitions come from Advan and Smartfren; as their combined share is 24.19%; and there is still

another group closing by.

Most common phone’s resolution is still WVGA, accounted for 33% of the market, low resolution

mobile phone(HVGA and QVGA) rose from 33.46% in Q4 2014 to 40.77% in Q12015.

In Q1 2015, 67.34% of the users is living in First-tier cities, and less than 2% are living in small cities,

its shows that there is large differences of network users in urban and rural areas, the Internet is not

p opular in the rural areas.

Saturday is the day with highest download activity,especially for game downloader.

The search feature is very important to the user, as the search usage percentage is continuously growing, and

suggesting that developers should have accurate description of the application’s name, details and classification

labels , as software users are tend to do a more precise search, while the gamer user will try to use varieties

of words and other key words, they tend to be more universal .

Main conclusions Since 2014 Q4 mobile application has maintain a rapid speed growth and software apps have a very clear

growth as it has been growing for more than 30%.

15.11% of the users download apps on daily basis.On average, each user downloads 0.61 app per day.

the 3 highest group are gamers, social media users and photographic enthusiast .Among game apps

download, casual game has the highest percentage.

Users are very welcoming all kinds of kids and tourism apps.We can see the user show a very serious

attitude in selecting apps on kids and tourism, as if users want to try all the apps and don’t want

to miss a single one of them.

The quantity percentage of Sports Apps are far higher than the download and it belong to the blue ocean

market .On the contrary, Cards & Casino Apps belong to the red ocean market.

4.2% of the users update Apps on daily basis. They average update 0.26 App per day,which demonstrates

users are not quite willing to update their apps.Social Apps outperforms the rest in updating times,

demonstrating a long life span in social app .On the other hand, game has a rather short life span.

Search and download continuous growth

Users percentage of search and download is continuously growing, from 30.43% in 2014 Q4 to 34.18% in 2015 Q1;

Search browsing to download conversion rate is higher 22.55% than list browsing;

Search feature is important to users, mobile apps developers should have a very accurate description of the

application’s name, details and classification labels.

Among the users who update apps at least once,

67.85% of them update 1 or 2 apps a day and the

share for the people who update 10 Apps or more

is 12.21%. It means a small proportion of users

are used to updating apps.

Apps update categorySocial apps has the highest score(37.78%), followed

by tools (19.98%).

Although Game Apps has the most downloads, updates for

Game Apps account for 13.54%. This is mainly because social

apps, like BBM and Facebook, are having huge user amount

and being needed in the long-term. While games are having

games are having a shorter life-cycle and can’t meet

a shorter life-cycle and can’t meet the public demand like social

apps or tool apps. Generally they are fulfilling the needs of a
