The header of this magazine uses the colours black and yellow, which are the two main colours used throughout the cover. The black on yellow creates the idea of danger, as the colours are often used for things warning signs or hazards, hence being associated with things like danger. These colours would appeal to a young adult audience because the magazine is showing itself as being different from all the others you could buy because this one is dangerous and rebellious, and therefore buying this magazine would make you rebellious too. The typeface being in all capitals also makes the header stand out, creating the idea it’s almost shouting due to the idea of capitals meaning shouting in social media. This also applies to the audience of young adults because they are strongly associated with social media and use it often, therefore would be the ones to understand the ‘shouty’ font and how it stands out.The use of the words ‘untold story’ also creates the idea that the magazine has an exclusive that you can’t find in any other magazine, and therefore if you’re a fan of Metallica then this is the magazine you need to buy.

The masthead for this magazine is in bold, shattered effect, capital letters. The letters looking like shattered glass creates the idea that this magazine shatters the usual stereotypical magazines and is different and edgy, attracting an audience. The shattered effect also attracts the teenage audience because the magazine is aimed at young adults who don’t listen to typical types of music, and instead listen to rock and pop punk. The masthead being partly hidden behind band members heads shows that the magazine is well recognised and popular, as it feels it doesn’t need to show it’s full title for the target audience to know the brand identity and that this is the magazine for them.

The colours used in this sell line immediately stand out as bright, eye catching colours to attract an audience. The black on yellow also adds to the idea of danger as seen in the header, making the target audience feel like this magazine is dangerous, different and doesn’t fit in to the stereotypical magazine type which is aimed at bubblegum pop. This would appeal to the target audience of young adults because they’d like the fact the magazine is trying to be different and relate to it.The sell line would also appeal to the target audience by using the words, ‘chosen by Paramore, Biffy, All Time Low… and you!’ This would appeal to the audience because the young adults who typically buy this magazine would almost certainly like at least one of these bands, and being listed along side these bands because of the ‘and you!’ would make the audience feel included and like they have a personal relation with the bands there. The use of the words ‘Need to hear’ would also attract the audience to buy the magazine because it isn’t giving them an option, and is instead saying the bands the audience are fans of demand you listen, and to listen, you have to buy the magazine first.

The image used shows posed shots of band members, giving it immediately appeal to the target audience who would recognise their favourite band members. This will get the magazine attention as soon as it’s seen, and draw an audience who like the music genre featured straight away. The band members also take up the most room on the cover, making it clear they’re the main focus and the main feature in the magazine, which would make the target audience want to buy the magazine to find out more about the bands featured. The colours used in the clothing of the band members and the writing also fits in with the colours used over the rest of the magazine, all colours which are eye catching and attract the audience. The poses by the band members featured are also friendly to attract the audience and invite them in to the magazine, making them feel trusting to the magazine and therefore make the audience more likely to pick up and by it.
