Innovations in Mission Advancement& Network Fundraising

PURPOSE• To raise not only awareness but also annual funds and sustaining gifts to promote

the current mission and long-term vision of ARC.

OBJECTIVES• improve relationship-building throughout the entire organization• increase the number of donors• increase the average amount contributed per donor• engage the “B&C” list donors as advocates for ARC• the program of outreach uses current budget dollars at highest effectiveness• “B&C” donors use the power of their networks to promote the ARC mission

OBSERVATIONS• ARC enjoys an excellent reputation in the community.• ARC provides valuable services to the community.• The current economic environment has exerted downward pressure on many

potential new “friends” of ARC, especially the small businesses.• There are many small/medium businesses that appreciate and are enthusiastic for

the mission of the ARC.• Providing a way for these small businesses to improve their bottom line could lead

to an improved and diversified revenue stream for ARC.• Since face-to-face, personal interaction is the most effective fundraising

method, ARC could benefit from a system that:◦ builds clarity around the mission and values of ARC◦ improves the values-based communication of the ARC staff and boards.◦ provides tools, templates, and methods for structured, systematic outreach in

the community by those already committed to the ARC mission• Teaching the relationship skill set to others will empower them to make

tremendous impact for those ARC serves.

Proposal to Accomplish the ObjectivesBUSINESS MASTERMIND GROUPS

Purpose:The purpose of the Business Mastermind Groups is to promote business learning, the exchange of information, and opportunities for creating and sustaining reciprocal relationships.

• Expand and diversify the revenue stream for ARC• Connect with a new sector of donors/potential donors• Support the for-profit efforts of ARC donors/potential donors• Network fundraising by MMG participants – advocates for ARC• Lay foundation for long-term planned giving with target donor population

Participants:• Business owners• key employees of businesses and

corporations• no more than 1 type of each

business in each group• key staff of ARC

General Process:• Each group meets once per

month in a facilitated session based on a specific topic in business, leadership and/or positive living – as part of this session, each participant receives “marketing” pieces about ARC as tools to engage like-minded associates.

• Throughout the month, the participants in each group individually pursue a plan of learning that focuses on his/her area-specific goals. Participants use personal interaction with like-minded friends and associates to conduct accurate “word-of-mouth advertising” about ARC.

The Mastermind Groups are gathered for no less than 3 months in each phase. Participants can choose to continue with another group or the same group to a new phase of development.

Follows a model similar to “Kingdom Advisors Groups” or “TEC” groups, but reinforced with DAILY learning and implementation of the principles and ideas learned. This provides for more significant progress in less time.
