Rajasthan News: 4 Smart Cities in Rajasthan The desert capital, Jaipur is preparing a blue print of the Smart City. In the first phase, the Center is offering funds of 100 crore each for 20 cities including the capital of Rajasthan. Apart from Pink City, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer are also in the list of the first phase and the officials needs to present their proposal by October 20 to the Union Government. While campaigning for General election 2014, PM Narendra Modi had announced to make hundred cities which was also mentioned in BJP's manifesto in 2014. On August 27, 2015 Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu announced the full list 98 names of the cities which will be developed as smart cities. Out of 98 cities, 24 are capital cities, 5 are port cities, 3 are education and health care hubs, 18 are culture and tourism influenced areas and 24 are business and industrial centers. The features of the smart city includes sufficient water supply, proper education and health infrastructure, electricity supply to all homes, better public transportation system, home for everyone, sanitation, safety of citizens specially for women, security of people, digitalization and robust IT connectivity and good governance. Jaipur & Kota The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials have prepared the proposal with citizen-engagement plan. In this, the corporation have asked the views, opinion and suggestions about smart city. According to the 'City Vision' guideline, the city administration will seek the question, requests and views of the citizens. JMC has launched websites to seek the views of the citizens, the officials are also active on social media like Facebook and Twitter. The Pink city will opt to choose on single problem in the city and try to resolve the issue in the pan-city smart solution. In selecting the problem, FM radio station, Facebook and twitter are playing major roll. Udaipur & Ajmer The Udaipur Municipal Corporation had placed 100 booths for taking the views, opinion and suggestions about the top five development on the priority basis. According to Wikipedia, the city of Lakes, Udaipur had the total population of 5.9 lakh in 2011, Jaipur has the population of 2.3 million in 2001, Kota had the total population 6.9 lakh in 2001 and Ajmer had

In next five years, India will have 100 smart cities, across 21 states. While launching the Smart city

mission PM Narendra Modi said that the central government is committed to urban India development.

The Mission was lunched on June 25, 2015. There is going to be a smart city exhibition and conference

in 2016 to explore the mission more and more to the people. According to PM, the smart city means

Home to all by 2022 under which the government will build 20 million homes in urban sector for poor.

The mayors and local urban bodies heads need to submit their proposals on October 20 to the center

government.
