THE SELLING POINT OF A MAGAZINE WITHIN MY GENRE

Page 2: The selling point of a magazine

I have chosen this magazine as it fits in with my rock and roll genre which can sometimes be referred to as classic rock genre.

My chosen magazine is a music

magazine

called ‘MOJO’.

The USP of the magazine has many features. USP is an abbreviation of a Unique Selling Point/Proposition which is something that convinces the

target audience that there magazine is the best magazine to for fill all the audiences needs.

MOJO regularly includes a cover mount CD which ties in with a current magazine article or theme this is a unique selling point as other magazines

wouldn’t issue a CD as regularly. It features headlines such as ‘The Top 100 Records That Changed the World.’

these are normally of a particular interest to the target market/audience.Occasionally the magazine issues a special edition which in some cases will attract more and more people to buy the magazine, however it does still all

depend on the main featured artists. The layouts of the magazine is normally very aesthetically appealing. The

masthead of the magazine is always the same. However the font style colour and layout are normally different for each magazine depending on the colour

scheme of the image and what would go and look well with that.

THE MAGAZINES SELLING POINTS

From looking a demographics I would say that the group that is most targeted at would be more than likely group E

Group E features the unemployed, and students.

These people would be mostly between 16-25

Group D could also be targeted at too, group D features the semi skilled professionals as well as unskilled individuals.

However there can be a minority of people who are older and will appreciate the older bands for example the magazine often features the rolling stones and this

particular magazine features Paul McCartney.

WHO EXACTLY IS TARGETED?

Colour scheme : The colour scheme of the magazine would attract a more classy and professional target audience.

I get this idea because the image is in black and white and the page doesn’t really look cluttered

Images: The images also give me the idea that its more appropriate for a classier targeted market because the

images are normally professionally taken images.

HOW ARE THEY TARGETED
