Helpers without borders Israel
f.N 580581916
Israeli soldiers for “tikun olam”
Background Helpers without borders Israel is a non-profit organization (NPO) established in
2013 by several officers, upon their completion of their regular military service
in IDF’s elite units. It aims to facilitate discharged IDF soldiers’ volunteering in
Third World countries that are toured as part of the “big post-army trip”.
The NPO is officially recognized by the State of Israel (Registrar of Associations / Association number 580581916).
The NPO targets young Israelis recently discharged from regular military service
in IDF, who wish to go on their “big post-army trip”. It acts to have these
young Israeli backpackers volunteering and providing humanitarian aid in the
countries they tour, as part of their trip (Third World countries only).
The “Charity Begins at Home” project – each humanitarian mission begins with
a volunteering project in Israel, focused on at-risk youth
(prior to the trip abroad).
Primary GoalLeveraging the existing human resource of thousands of Israeli post-army backpackers touring Third World countries, in favor of providing voluntary humanitarian help in those countries.
Additional Goals
1.Tikun olam
2. Improving the image of IDF and Israel in general:This action has great public relations potential, and one of its goals is to
support and complement IDF and the State of Israel’s efforts in public
diplomacy abroad, with the purpose of strengthening positive attitudes towards both among the international public.
3. Providing a meaningful added-value to the “big trip”:The big post-army trip is the “final station” in the lives of the newly-
discharged soldiers, before they return to Israel to become regular adult

this point in their lives in particular, would contribute towards our society
becoming better and more moral.
