Approximately 1 in 10 Americans aged 60 years or older has experienced some form of elder abuse. Data shows that more than 5 million elders are abused each year. Even more disturbing than the numbers of elder abuse is the fact that approximately only 1 in 14 cases of abuse are reported to authorities. It is not always easy to detect signs of elder abuse.
