Early history It was in the same country and only a few years earlier that the history of Awapatentbegan, when our founder, Anders WilhelmAnderson,firstenteredthepatentindustryin1897.Industrializationandinnovationsweretransforming society dramatically throughout thewholeofEurope,andAndersonrealizedthatpatentswereevolvingasakeybusinesstool,nottheleastinhisownhomeregion.

20th centuryInnovation, and thus intellectual property,trulytransformedtheregionduringthe20thcentury. First, companies such as Ericsson,Astra (today AstraZeneca) and Tetra Pak le-veraged technological innovations globally.

Then,asecondwaveofbusinesses,includingIKEA,H&M,LEGOandVELUXandmanyoth-ers,useddesignandbrandbuildingascorecomponentsoftheirsuccess.Awapatent played an important role in
