MORAL TRAP:

Chosen Genre:The genre of the trailer me and my team member (Safa) has

chosen is a ‘crime thriller’.

A crime thriller is basically a thriller that concentrates on the impact of a crime on the protagonist. It is not always

necessary that the perpetrator of the crime be kept secret, though this can also be a staple ingredient. However, as long as a crime forms a backdrop to the thriller plot, then I believe

we have ourselves a crime thriller. Elements of a Crime Thriller:

‘Thriller’ is a broad genre of literature, film and television, usually having numerous subgenres. Thrillers heavily stimulate the

viewer's moods, giving them heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety.

Theme:The theme me and my team member (Safa) has chosen to proceed with is

‘crime’. This is because we are producing a trailer in terms of the genre crime thriller.

One of the key aspects regarding the theme is the music. The music will be playing in certain parts of the trailer, where suspense in needed. It will be dark, gruesome and suspenseful music, which will keep the audience watching feel intrigued and motivated to carry on watching the trailer.

Not only will the music come into affect regarding the theme ‘crime’, the location will be hugely influential to the trailer too. This is because some of the locations we have chosen is; the canal, park, coffee shop etc. We have chosen to use the canal as part of a location because the canal is a

dark place anyway where hardly anyone walks around later in the day and we have decided to film there as it is a creepy setting.

Plan: Moral Trap is a criminal thriller with a psychological element, which focuses on a

friendship which slowly disintegrates into someone being killed. 3 characters - A couple who are deeply in love with each other (Matthew & Melinda)- And a third wheel (Rowan)- But they are all best of friends -Flashbacks on all three of them laughing together having fun-Evil flash forward of the two girls arguing… Why? -Matthew cheats on his girlfriend with Rowan-Melinda does not know-Melinda starts changing her character, forgetting about the other two friends she once had-Rowan (the third wheel) falls deeply in love with Matthew -Old couple get back together-Twist: Rowan gets killed by the couple-Melinda showing fake love to her boyfriend-Does Melinda murder her boyfriend as revenge?

Matthew is the protagonist in the aspiring crime thriller called Moral Trap.

NAME: Matthew MulcahyPORTRAYED AS: Matthew Mulcahy

AGE: 18RELATIONSHIP STATUS: In a relationship with Melinda Azemi

APPREARANCE: Matthew is a tall young man of 5’8 with light brown/dark blonde hair and green/hazel eyes that often change depending on lighting. This character has an

oval face shape and only slightly visible facial hair with a slim body. LOCATION: North London, United Kingdom

PERSONALITY: He is one of the kindest characters in the film but is also very naïve and is shown to have signs of depression and anxiety, especially after he murders

Rowan. This character is usually very social but has a need to be around others most of the time and dislikes the thought of being alone for a long period of time.

LIKES: Films, spending time with people, reading books and of course, his [first] girlfriend.

DISLIKES: Betrayal and love triangles, ironic since he was previously involved.CHILDHOOD: Had a very peaceful childhood and had always been family oriented so he does not like the pressure of being an only child (the pressure from his parents to

strive for more than what he has achieved).FAMILY: Lives with his mother and father in a cereal packet household.

Melinda is the antagonist in the aspiring crime thriller called Moral Trap.

NAME: Melinda AzemiPORTRAYED AS: Melinda Azemi

AGE: 17RELATIONSHIP STATUS: In a relationship with Matthew Mulcahy.

APPEARANCE: She is a good looking girl with chestnut brown hair with medium brown eyes. She wears glasses and stands at the petite height of 5’1. Her style is described to be laid back but girly, but this partly roots from her being unable to

wear the same types of clothes as girls her age but it is mainly to coincide with her personality.

PERSONALITY: In the beginning, she was relatively described to be more laid back and mentally stable than the other protagonists, until she learns of the deceit

between Rowan and Matthew. LIKES: Drowning herself in music, she likes Matthew, singing and being creative.

DISLIKES: Betrayal, love triangles, liars and feeling guilty.CHILDHOOD: Peaceful, residing in a nuclear family. Eldest child with an eight year old sister and three year old brother - spends a lot of time at home looking after them.

Melinda: Character Profile

Jannah is a character in the crime thriller production ‘Moral Trap’.

NAME: Jannah WilliamsPORTRAYED AS: Jannah Williams

AGE: 19RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single

APPEARANCE: A pretty strawberry blonde with a standard tomboy style but can actually be versatile on occasion. Stands at the average height of 5'5 and is a proud

unconventional girl, never afraid to be herself.PERSONALITY: Frank and well spoken. A very modest individual but also very chatty but never fears saying her mind but only in the nicest mannerisms. Rowan is also a

gamer girl but can be somewhat of a wild child on occasion. An unfortunate romantic. LIKES: Videogames, socializing, Matthew, acting etc.

DISLIKES: Melinda and love triangles. CHILDHOOD: Conventional family upbringing. Even though her dad is no longer

present, she has a stepdad she admires just as much as a normal father. She has two younger brothers.

The plot starts off with Matthew reminiscing over a group of three best friends sharing good memories for the first few scenes with flashbacks , but then there are also flash-forwards of Rowan and Melinda arguing

but it is not told why.

As a result, Melinda starts changing her character, forgetting about the friends she has.

Matthew then cheats on his girlfriend(Melinda) with Rowan as they both fall in love with each other, however Melinda does not know

about it, foreshadowing trouble will arise later on.

Plot SUMMARY (SLIDE 2) Melinda and Matthew get back together, after what has happened. Matthew

and Melinda then plot to kill Rowan.

Melinda’s excuse of killing Rowan is because she knows about her involvement with Matthew and Rowan. However, Matthew wants to kill Rowan as he is afraid she will open her mouth by exposing and telling

Melinda about their affair. This is not the case as Melinda had caught the both of them together, without them even knowing.

Matthew tries to act as if him and Melinda are good together, showing no sign of hate and envy in the relationship and being in a cliché happy

relationship. However, Melinda is expressing fake love to him, as she is still angry with him.

Does Melinda decide to kill Matthew as part of revenge?

One of the last scenes of the trailer involves Melinda portraying herself in a low lit angle as a murderer who attempts to kill

Matthew.And lastly, the trailer will be complete with scenes of two people walking across dim lit halls and hands will be over their mouths.
