The response to the invitation was overwhelming and many families were disappointed but for twelve families it turned out to be another fantastic day. Our theme was ‘Back to Basics’ so after a Health and Safety briefing it was time to get cracking on a Hearty Beef Stew to keep the cold out on those wintry days. Everyone watched a demonstration by Mrs. McCarthy and four families then set to prepare a very nourishing dish. Meanwhile, Mrs Taylor showed the remaining families how to make Leek and Potato Soup. Everyone set to work immediately and the hall was as busy as a restaurant kitchen! Next came the scones! There was great enthusiasm to bake these especially as they were to be eaten at our morning break, with a well deserved cuppa. Some families made sultana scones, some cherry scones, some plain scones and others cheese scones. We have to say that they were delicious! Two further main courses were then prepared along with some Spicy Tomato Brochette to accompany our soup. Mrs. Chadwick helped four families to prepare a vegetarian Pasta Cheese Bake whilst Mrs. McCarthy showed how rice, chicken thighs and drumsticks could be combined , together with some tasty Mediterranean ingredients to create Chicken Basque, a type of Spanish Stew. After all of this, there was still a dessert to prepare. The children set to work on Fruit Kebabs while the adults made an All in One Sponge Cake. By 1.00 pm, everyone was ready to sit down and enjoy their lunch. There was lots to choose from and more than enough food to go round. Our families did us proud and certainly enjoyed their day. Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. McCarthy would like to thank all of our families for attending, all the staff and parents who helped on Friday evening and throughout the day. Without you, it couldn’t have happened. Check out our website for more fantastic photographs! That’s it, get your hands in and rub! The hat is very important to the overall finish!

come to school in a warm coat, even if they

travel by car, as the

break times can now be quite cold.

We have a Kirkman upright piano which has given good service over the years. Our two sons each passed their grade 8 exam after hours of practise on this instrument. However it is now seldom in use. We would like to see it welcomed by a family with children who want to learn to play the piano. We are not asking for payment, just a good home! All we would hope is that you assure us your children will take lessons and also that you will arrange

transport for it to it’s new home.

Please contact Ken 01704 534847 for details.

It was a great win by Norwood’s B team with two goals by Ryan Taylor Reid. The first goal of the match

happened when Josh Watkins served a great chip over Linaker. Once again the great Ryan was on the ball and

charged forward, took a shot and its there! As Ryan

sprinted up field from defence he made a brilliant tackle took a shot but the goalkeeper gave us a corner. He

wiped the sweat off his brow, looked up and made an

amazing cross to Gabriel Angay but Linaker’s defender jumped for it and scored.

New Menu starts November 2010

YR 6 Visit Vue Cinema Last Friday Year 6 were given free tickets to go to Vue Cinemas as part of National Film Week. With Mr Postlethwaite

setting the pace, we walked all the way to Ocean Plaza in less than hour. Even Mrs Coleman managed it with her short legs! As we have been writing a Quest story recently, we decided to watch Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. It was a

brilliant film. Look out after half term for our film review. As the weather was lovely, we decided to have our lunch at the end of the Pier and then walked home via Hesketh Park. We all enjoyed our day and can’t wait for our next trip out.
