Oh Canada!
Geography
• Canada is the second largest country
• Shares the largest land border with USA
• Canada has beautiful nature scenery but most of the north is uninhabited
• Canada is officially bilingual. Largest and most famous cities include Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa the capital city
Government • Canada is officially under
the Sovereign rule of Queen Elizabeth II’s monarchy. It is a confederation and is divided into 11 provinces.
• The current Prime Minister is Justin Trudeau who belongs to the liberal party
• With a population of around 35 million, Canada vows to respect multiculturalism, diversity and the freedom of all its citizens.
Toronto • Toronto is the largest and
most cosmopolitan city in Canada
• It is the capital of the province of Ontario and is known to be the “business hub” of Canada
• Toronto is part of what is known as the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and is the most populated city in Canada, with 26% of the population residing there.
Toronto• Toronto is a city of various
cultures and a diverse art scene
• Every year it hosts the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival)
• It is home to many theatres, art galleries and museums, the most famous are the Royal Ontario Museum and the Shoe Museum containing rare, unusual shoes.
Toronto • Since the 200s, the city’s
architecture has been revived, world renowned architects have designed many of the buildings
• The distillery district is an area of preserved Victorian architectural heritage, it was once an alcohol factory but now a pedestrian tourist destination next to the lovely view of the Toronto harbor
Toronto • Although winters are very
harsh, summers in Toronto are warm and the city holds many festivals and parades
• The city also includes internationally renowned shopping areas including all designer brand stores.
• The suburbs of Toronto also hold many outlet malls
• Less than two hours outside the city of Toronto are the world famous Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls• Niagara Falls have the
highest fall rate of all the world’s waterfalls
• The horseshoe falls on the Canadian side are a beautiful sight and a year-long tourist attraction
• Around the falls are many hotels, casinos and restaurants dedicated for tourists
