You have the opportunity to grow your business online with a ton of online marketing tools at your fingertips and disposal. You know there are online marketing tools for small business and big business, but how can you make these internet marketing tools work for you? 1.
Know who your audience is
. The most important thing is knowing who your target audience is, what they like, and what the best way to reach them is. If your target audience is photo oriented, you’d probably stick with Instagram, or if they are wordy, don’t

pick Twitter (160 characters is too short to be lengthy). Common sense can play a pretty big part in knowing how to reach your audience.

2. Pick your outlets. This ties in with the last step. You don’t need to have every single social media platform accessible. If you have way too many social media accounts, you won’t be able to keep up with all of them and keep all of them current. You’ll drown in social media. Know which outlets will have the most traffic for your marketing needs and stick with them, one or two good channels will be so much better than fifteen mediocre ones.

3. Stay consistent. A visual identity can set you aside from the rest of the competition. If people see your symbol, they will recognize you in an instant versus having to memorize a company name and commit that to memory. It is easier to commit a picture or logo to memory than it is a word.

4. Make all of your content clear and consistent. If you can adapt and repurpose your content to suit different media platforms, that will be for the best. People take a few times to remember a brand or specific message, so if your material is recognizable, each time a person sees it, they will be closer to committing you to memory. For example, if you can take an article, use it on Facebook, post a line on Twitter, and use an excerpt on LinkedIn, you’ve done your job right.

5. Make sure that all of your content connects. This means that all of your marketing campaign should be linked in some way. If you have a Twitter, a Facebook, and a website, you wouldn’t want the titles to all be wildly different, no one would be able to find you on each platform. Keep things as uniform as possible so you don’t lose needed traffic. If you can, post a link to your different profiles on each account so no one has to go searching for you. People like convenience over anything else.

6. Make sure that your team is working together. If you have a lot of team members, you don’t want them to each come up with something that is completely different and unrecognizable as your company’s work.

7. Keep an eye on your campaigns. Analytics will help to keep an idea of how much traffic you’re getting and what is bringing in the traffic. Analytics can help you to improve upon the things that are bringing people in and fix the issues that are causing anyone to leave unhappy. You can use coupons with unique barcodes that will allow you to receive data from the places the coupons were used at to know what part of your campaign has been the most successful.
