NameTags4U – Facebook Marketing Case Study

Cliff and Caroline Carter have run their Cheltenham-based business NameTags4U since

2003, providing iron-on and sticky labels for clothes and other items. Last year, following

investment in new technology, they launched a unique photo tag service enabling

customers to upload photos, images and drawings to personalise labels even further.

After engaging Jonathan to work on a Facebook campaign, NameTags4U’s profile

soared, attracting 48,000 followers and with one post alone getting 130,000 likes.

Cliff says: “We started using Facebook about four or five years ago but didn’t have any

clue as to what we were doing! We had 50,000 customers but no followers. We went on

Jonathan’s course and then engaged him for a Facebook project where he set up a

Facebook Business Page (facebook.com/nametags4u) and gained us a lot of fans.

“We were advertising via Adwords but found this was getting more expensive and more

competitive for the return on investment. So we decided to put our efforts into Facebook

and it’s given us a much better return. Our work is very seasonal, with an extremely

busy six weeks in the summer holidays, and this August we saw a 10-15% increase on

our orders compared to the same time last year.

“We use boosted posts, which enable us to put the product in front of the relevant

demographic. In Google, you are relying on people to use the right keyword but, with our

photo tags and name stamps, customers don’t know they exist until they see them, so

they are not using those keywords in the first place. Whether it would work with a

generic product, I don’t know, but with a unique product like ours boosted posts work.

“Jonathan has always been our first port of call for help, due to his knowledge. He’s the

person we always go to for advice and has helped us build up an excellent following.
