Seven quick tricks to help your

content reach more people on Twitter

Why use Twitter? (as Twitter isn’t just another content marketing tool!)

v  Use for successful brand-building and engagement

v  Enable direct conversations with customers and prospects

v  Seek out new contacts relevant to your business

v  Track your competitors’ activity v  Follow industry news v  ….and so much more!

The seven quick tricks to help you reach more people on Twitter

v  Trick 1: Schedule your tweets to make sure you send each one three times

v  Trick 2: ALWAYS include a picture

v  Trick 3: Ask questions rather than just copying over headlines

v  Trick 4: Include #hashtags

v  Trick 5: @ people with your content – even if it’s old

v  Trick 6: Use Openr

v  Trick 7: Don’t use the full 140 characters

v  Bonus tip! Don’t forget to measure your results!

Trick 1: Schedule your tweets to make sure you send each one

three times

v  A former chief evangelist of Apple suggests every tweet featuring a link to your content should be sent out three times

v  Schedule all those tweets in one go, to save yourself time and avoid having to constantly disrupt your workflow throughout the day

v  Remember that 11am and 1pm to 3pm tend to be peak Twitter times.

Trick 2: ALWAYS include a picture

v  Including a picture makes your tweet immediately more shareable and clickable.

v  Tweets with pictures are 94% more likely to be retweeted v More retweets = more exposure = more clicks

Trick 3: Ask questions rather than just copying over headlines

v Don’t give everything away in the 140 characters. Give them a reason to click by framing the link as an answer to a question

Trick 4: Include #hashtags

## Twitter has facilitated the creation of countless micro-communities who find each other through hashtags ## Add a relevant hashtag to your tweet, and you’ve instantly boosted the chances that someone interested in that area will find your tweet ## Search on Twitter for a range of possible hashtags you could use, then see which are used most frequently in the search results

Trick 5: @ people with your content – even if it’s old

@@ If you’ve created some content that you think someone else on Twitter would find interesting, just @ them and tell them, with a link to it. You’ve got nothing to lose! @@ And if you’re not sure who to @ with your content, search for terms that are relevant such as #ITsecurity

@

Trick 6: Use Openr.co

v Openr is a new tool that lets you share your own or other people’s content, then adds in a small pop-up on the page you share, with some customisable action text and a link back to wherever you want it.

v  Using Openr means you can still share other sites’

content while driving traffic back to your own.

v  Always use the right tools!

Trick 7: Don’t use the full 140 characters

v Using every last available character of your 140 ration in a tweet is a retweet killer – leave enough space for retweeting to be easy and instant

Bonus tip!

v  It’s really important to learn how different approaches impact your click-throughs.

v  Make sure you measure everything using a link shortening service you can log in to and that stores your results, such as Goo.gl or Openr, mentioned above
