Whats next for Twitter in 2016?
Usernames will no longer count against 140 character limit when youre replying to a tweet
Photos, videos, polls, or GIFs will not count either You will be able to re-tweet/quote-tweet yourself When starting a tweet with @ your followers will
now see it too without the need for a period at the beginning of the tweet

But, the biggest change for Twitter in 2016?
It no longer wants to be called a social network It wants to be called a news application This ties in with the Pew Institutes recent study
that disclosed 62% of U.S. adults get their news via social media
Not dead, but is molting its feathers

Perhaps the biggest change in social media is the accelerated evolution of networks into everything platforms.
Twitter isnt just for blasting out 140-character updates anymore: Its for one-on-one messaging, video-sharing, customer service and more.

Facebook isnt just about connecting with friends: Its now (or soon to be) a workplace productivity tool, a video sharing and streaming platform, a place to shop, etc.
Similar transformations can be seen across LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat, among other networks.

Social media has become less a discrete thing that people do than a natural component of everything they do.
And that trend shows no signs of slowing.
