place setting to show up at the beginning of the trailer. This film takes place in New York at first by looking at the skyscrapers in the

The use of voice over of a girl to introduce the characters conforms the codes and conventions of

romantic comedy genre.

with the voiceover of Beth, introducing herself. She is the

first character to show up signifies that she is the main

character. She is running into her ex-boyfriend, bringing up her past. Until the his ex-boyfriend telling

her that he’s getting engage. She’s giving this happy expression

as if she’s congratulate him. However, her voice over saying ‘son of a…’ that contradict with

her face expression.The second character to be introduced. He could be the hero in this film. By looking at his scenes,

there is no connection between him and Beth. This connotes that they

might not know each other yet, apply to the codes and conventions of

romantic comedy genre where girl and boy meet each other and fall in love.

Then, the trailer shows that their place setting moved to Rome, a magical city on Earth based on

the voice over said, for the main character’s sister wedding.

This scene in the trailer brings up the funny

sense.

The transition of wipe to the right used signifies the changing of locations.

The crossfade used between these shots bring out the peace from the wedding connotes the

wedding going well.
