Church pastors are to teach, shepherd and protect the flock under their watch


Some seek to elevate themselves


Sometimes the sheep put their leaders on pedestals


The Old Testament exposes the dangers of idolatry


Many modern day believers ignore the

topic


God cannot serve God and mammon (Matt

6:24)


A more subtle form of idolatry can involve spiritual leaders


"My pastor had an affair... " can lead to a person's spiritual

derailment


Moral failure instances are disheartening and publicized more than

in the past


Most pastors and ministry leaders have the right heart to lead


There is proper biblical

honor to hold for those in

authority over us


Some Christians, with their own issues, will put leaders on pedestals.


It appears easier to serve a charismatic leader than the Lord because of instant

feedback and gratification


The demonic realm will assist us so that excessive adoration can lead to a type of

worship


When the demons can knock that leader off the pedestal, they win a

victory


What are danger signs of pastor/ leader worship?


1. Are you overly fixated


2. Do you receive rejection easily if you are not treated as you expect

3. Do you find that you frequently place meeting your pastor’s needs ahead of

your spouse or family?


4. Did a leaders

fall cause you to

become isolated

from the Body of Christ?


5. Do you over-analyze the leader's every move or decision?


If you are off the narrow road that leads to life (Matt 7:13-14), you may need help to get
