Malaysia’s population is made up of various

ethnics, race, religion, language and culture.

In a multi-ethnic society, integration is

important to ensure peace and harmony of a

nation.

Malaysia’s nationalism is needed to unite the

nation.

A process that unites the whole society and

nation to form a unique identity and value

that is translated into a feeling of love and

pride of the country.

groups that are separated by culture, social

and location in a political unit.

The effort to reduce the huge disparity in

the economic and social achievements

between the developed and under developed

regions.

Example: Regional integration between

Sabah & Sarawak with the Malaysian

Peninsula, and the East Coast with the West

Coast of the Malaysian Peninsula.

Equal distribution in terms of income, basic

amenities, education, health facilities,

housing and job opportunities.

The five year development plan and the

government policies were enacted to develop

and economic balance between the races

and reduce the occupation based racial

identity.

to minimize one’s different identity.

Example: The baba-Nyonya community

in Melaka would visit their non Malay

friends during their festivals & the non

Malays accepting the Malays’ dressing

customs and food.

developing the national culture.
