True – our identity partly comes from individual tastes

and habits…

Page 7: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

but also from the connections we have to others … like our family.

Page 8: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Family is about your roots

Page 9: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Family is about relationships

Family is about being there to celebrate

Page 11: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Family is about caring for one another

Page 12: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

At baptism, you became a member of another

family …

God’s family

Page 14: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Do you like receiving gifts?

Page 15: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Guess what!As a member of God’s family, you’ve already received the

greatest gift of all

Page 16: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son so that

whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life

John 3:16

Page 17: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

That’s amazing love

Page 18: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

That’s the kind of love Godhas for you

Page 19: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

and the kind of love Godwants you to show others.

Page 20: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

So how can we respond to God’s love?

Page 21: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Two ways:

Page 22: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

1.Love God with all your

heart, soul and mind

Page 23: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

2.Love your neighbour just

like you love yourself

Page 24: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

You do the first part by:

Page 25: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Worshipping God

Page 26: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Through prayer, devotion and reflection.

Page 27: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

And, with God’s help, living your life in ways

that please God.

Page 28: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

You can do the second by:

Page 29: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Caring for the environment

Page 30: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Listening to a friend who’s sad

Page 31: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Or just by helping people

however you can.

Page 32: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Here’s how Jesus explained it.

Page 33: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Read Luke 10:25-37

Page 34: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

You learned all about neighbours from Martin Luther’s

comments on the Ten Commandments in

the Small Catechism

Page 35: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

We should fear and love God that we may not hurt nor harm our

neighbour in his body, but help and befriend him in every bodily need.

Page 36: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

It’s realistic to help neighbours nearby but God’s family is spread

all over the globe!

Page 37: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

How can we be neighbours to those in need who are so far away?

Page 38: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)
Page 39: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Canadian Lutheran World Relief began in 1946 when Lutherans in

Canada wanted to share God’s love by helping people who were

suffering in Europe after World War II by bringing them to Canada.

Page 40: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Since God loves us so much, through CLWR, we can still share His love with

people around the world in many different ways.

Page 41: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

ELCIC members like yourself can’t personally help neighbours who are so far away …

Page 42: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

but they can do it by giving moneyand other helpful items to Canadian Lutheran World Relief.

Page 43: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

And governments in Canada oftensupport CLWR by providing

additional funds that increase the work CLWR can do.

Page 44: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

Canadians donated more than $1.5 million to CLWR to help people in Haiti

recover from an earthquake.

Page 45: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

And through CLWR, Lutherans in Canada helped people in Japan after the

2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Page 46: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

In Africa, Lutherans have helped people in areas suffering from drought.

Page 47: CLWR confirmation resource (ELCIC) (no video)

And helped farmers grow more food.
