CELEBRATIONS
In Argentina there are different typical celebrations, for example…
Christmas Christmas or 'La Navidad', in Argentina is celebrated on the 25th
of December. Christmas decorations form the most important aspect of Christmas celebrations in the country. Each house in Argentina is decorated with garlands, wreaths, electric lights and native flowers of the season. The Christmas tree is adorned beautifully with baubles, small figurines of Christmas characters and cotton balls to represent snow. Little children anticipate the arrival of ‘Santa Claus’ ('Papá Noel‘) for gifts. Fireworks are put on show to amuse the children during Christmas Eve. Fireworks with the shape of balloons are set off, these paper balloons are lit with candles, and it’s a popular Christmas tradition in Argentina.
A magnificent Christmas dinner comprising of the country's favourite dishes like 'parrillada' and 'ninos envuettas' are served on Christmas Eve. People prefer to have their Christmas dinner out in the open and in gardens.
Catholic influence is everywhere since Argentina is a country influenced especially by Italian immigrants.
When thinking of celebrating "la Navidad" in Argentina prepare yourself for blue skies, warm temperatures and a delightful breeze.
“Quinceañera” Quinceañera, sometimes called quince, is the
celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America and elsewhere in communities of people from Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. The celebration, however, varies significantly across countries, with celebrations in some countries taking on, for example, more religious overtones than in others.
Students’ Festival In the province of Jujuy people go all-out in a
two-week celebration. The Fiesta Nacional de los Estudiantes (Students’ Festival) has been held since 1949. There all kinds of activities, from float parades to sporting competitions to the crowning of the Queen of Students. There are big celebrations around the country as well: every county and province also chooses their Spring Queen in preparation for the nation-wide competition in Jujuy.
